Behind The Shoot! #IFP
1:13 PMIndia Film Project
No matter how serious the film will ever be, whatever happens
behind the shoot will always be hilarious!
This is actually the truth for any film that is being filmed
or was filmed. The film may be horror, suspense, war, thriller, romantic et
cetera, which ever genre, it will always have a handful of many funny moments
and so many unforgettable moments that could never be relived.
The actors, the directors, the cinematographer, the spot
boys, the make-up man every one of those would be a part of those moments and
cherish the entire shoot. For example when actor has to run, they fall, when
they have to fight they end up holding each other and laugh, when there has to
be a romantic scene they become more hilarious, when they have to cry they can’t
and when there has to be a serious dialogue delivery they hardly can take their
voices out! It’s a situation that happens on every set and all of the film
makers and other crew people reading this will agree with me in bits.
There are those memories which are close to our heart, that
happiness when you accomplish what you started and a satisfaction to complete
the thing in the same way as you wanted and then to cherish them, to celebrate
the victory, the achievement and those heavenly smiles; same was the scenario
with us. There was a sigh of relief when the shoot got over, but there was also
a ting of sadness for it got over; that is strange.
We all had the idea that it’s a war film so there will be
wagons of dust and perspiration and blood and all the war-ry things which under
the heat would be a greater and bigger challenge to face in that costume of an
army officer in which the actors had to suit themselves up, that was really a
great dare. Then there was finding of the necessary production items and arranging
it all was a tough job to do again. It worked out in a quick yet not an easy
way. We had to go here and there, find stuff and finalize them. We even had an
amazing set of actors who were more than willing to do their part wholesomely.
They had no fear of getting soiled, muddy and sweaty to feel themselves in the
shoes of a soldier. We were over whelmed with this enthusiasm. The actors with
the director were so engrossed in evaluating each scene and its best way to do
it that they ended up with almost near perfection. They picked up the same
language as soldiers and were no less than them.
The shoot started in the morning itself with the set-up, lights,
camera’s and stuff. The place where we shot was a very raw place, perfect for
the situation and mind you all, searching a place like that was a great great
task! In fact the place got finalized in the last moment. #secret. So that’s how
it all commenced and after all the make up and costumes, setting up of the
camera’s and green screens, that shot begun and it was a kick start. We already
had our moments of laughter from the beginning.
It started in such a way that it stopped only at the time of
lunch in the scorching heat. After the lunch they soon shot again as they had
no time to spare. They wanted to complete the shoot in maximum 12-13 hours and
that was one hell of a tough goal. So they again started with the shoot, it
went over & over and they were done with the outdoor location and they
started setting up for the indoor shoot.
That was a bit better than the outdoor one as there was at least
a shield over their heads and they had no more to bear the ultra violet rays
juicing up their stamina. So it went on again for hours together and there was
no clue that it almost got midnight and that is when it ended.
Of course it took more hours to complete the shoot but the
main thing was they did not stop at all. They never even gave it a thought to
continue it the next morning or something. So almost 17-18 hours after the
shoot everyone was dead tired and ready to celebrate the completion. Everyone
had their moment of pride and fulfillment. They were finally done with the raw
film just ready to weave itself to create the final trailer.
Like every other film that ends, this ended too but
metaphorically it was a beginning of an amazingly adventurous journey called India
Film Project 2014. And that was an important thing for everyone, even you. After
the shoot that ended there was the most important thing to be done that was
editing. Editing each and every shot was a task too. That took some weeks to get
over with and to get the finally crafted film of 2 minutes! There was dubbing
then again editing and again redoing the editing, as we had to get perfection.
So when we released our trailer we were so excited for
showing you that with what power and what enthusiasm you people have to begin
your journey and accomplish that without any if’s and but’s. When we made this
trailer we always had a part of you all in us and that was our motivation.
Otherwise we wouldn’t have worked so solid and would have not done such a
tricky task. Thank you to each one of the IFPians who motivates us to give you
our best.
Always keep this river of love and respect flowing and we
will give you the same. IFP like every year is going to be so much fun. Do tell
your friends and the film enthusiast about this and have fun together, for what
we believed in this shoot was ‘United we stand, divided we fall’
So lets roll this India's largest short film making competition where the great young minds show their creativity to a next level. All the filmmakers in India, IFP is for you.
