INDIA FILM PROJECT IS HERE

“It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are”, a
line by Cummings which reads in bold at the desktop wallpaper everytime I use
my laptop and this quote has played a big big role in the journey from AFP to
IFP. Started as an experimental project from Ahmedabad, the tremendous
participation in the past two year knocked at our door and said “hey, we are
all ready for taking it big, are you?” and there was hence no question of why
not to grow up.
I had come across many people who always talked about making a
film, had a story to shoot, but “time hi nahi milta” was a common common thing.
The thought then popped up to make a weekend film activity. When we
conceptualized AFP way back in 2011, the only purpose was to make an annual
activity which gives filmmaker a neat platform to make a film and showcase it
to audience. With 600+ people participating in 2011 alone, we were convinced
that this concept had huge potential in the years to come. That’s when in 2012
we also introduced alongside film festival, workshops, panel discussions and
more. A purely filmmaker’s event.
In 2012, we had teams from every nook and corner of country, be
it Assam, Karnataka or Himachal Pradesh. Seeing participant travelling down to
Ahmedabad, carrying their bags full of enthusiasm, was a woww thing. But we had
a larger number of phone calls of people who couldn’t travel distances. The
only way to eliminate this geographical barrier was to go online. And we did,
this year. No more travelling to Ahmedabad this season yet being able to attend
every part of it. And that’s where webcasting also comes to our rescue. Yes,
you can now watch entire fest online as well.
With renowned and versatile juries like Tigmanshu Dhulia and
Nikhil Advani, there is more more and more to come from IFP. Keep Participating
:)
